Shadow Scroll... Scroll Shadow

Beginning with 'S'

The scroll is a curtain pole finial casting a shadow on the bedroom wall.  Why something beginning with 'S'?   I asked Graeme last night to pick a letter,  he chose 'S'.   He had no idea why he was being asked.
