Sing a Song of Sixpence

87/365

But there are no blackbirds baked in this pie!  Just good old chicken and ham.

Sing a Song of Sixpence

Despite it being almost May and the dried days, it's still fairly nippy and a comforting pie is very welcome.

Apple 'Frit'er

Blue apple shape created from crushed glass (known as 'frit') prior to being fused in a kiln.

Blue Apple 'Frit'ter

This picture was taken during a Glass Fusing Workshop run by Marie Glossop as part of the Cornwall Council Adult Education programme. An excellent workshop!  Marie is an extremely talented lady with a wonderful (and addictive) studio (Atlantic Glass Studio) in Bude, North Cornwall.

Pear Blossom

If the frost doesn't destroy the blossom this year, we could be in for a bumper crop.

Asian Short Clawed Otter

80/365

The Asian otters are smaller than the British and seemed to be more vocal, busy and playful - or least there were until dinner time when the British otter found it's voice and used it to full volume!

Asian Short Clawed Otter

Such great little characters! They knew when dinner was about to served.

Dinner on it's way!

Kestrel

79/365

Jack, the Kestrel.   We often see Kestrels hovering above with their distinctive fanned tail, or perching in a tree but rarely this close up.  They are absolutely stunning.

Jack

Although I have chosen the picture above as my 'Daily' photo (I liked the constrast between Jack and the blue sky), the one below shows him in a little more detail.

British Otter

78/365

Today I spent a fabulous afternoon spent at Tamar Otter and Wildlife Sanctuary.  The otters were such characters, I could have watched them for hours.

Otter

Although this is a photo-a-day project, I'll being adding more pictures from this afternoons outing in for the next couple of days - it'll still be one photo a day... just not necessarily taken on that day.

Little Bells

Perfect little bells of the Pieris.

Little Bells

The Peiris are positively dripping in flowers this year, it's the first time we've seen such an impressive display of on this shrub.

Textured Tulip

76/365

Our solitary tulip.

Textured Tulip

We only have one tulip in our garden.  Every year it stands out from the crowd of  muscari and chionodoxa in the flower bed, and every year I think "I must get more tulips planted".  Every year I forget...

The texture has been applied in Photoshop. I had a bit of a play with textures a while back but couldn't really get the feel for them. Having been inspired by the results achieved by others I thought I'd give it another go. I'm pleased with how this one has turned out and will have more of a play with them.

Also good for weather forecasting;  when the seaweed is wet it's raining, when it's dry, it's not!
